Alice Garvey (Spidle), '61, Education, was married on July 1, 2006 to Bill Garvey. Combined, they have nine children, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Patricia Kingzett (Wisniewski), '97, Special and Elementary Education, married David Kingzett on June 21, 2008 on the island of St. Lucia.

Amy Ellington (Shialabba), '98, Physical Therapy, married Jason Ellington October 13, 2007. They honeymooned in Jamaica. Amy works as lead physical therapist for Hand and Rehabilitation of North Carolina Eden clinic and they reside just outside of Greensboro, NC. Amy earned her DPT in 2006 from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Heather Stefanik (Lawson), '98, PT, was married to Robb Stefanik on July 15, 2000.

Robin Albrecht (Gillette), '00, Elementary Education, was married to Aaron Albrecht on July 30, 2005.

Deborah Swain (Perreault), '00, Physician Assistant, married Stephen Swain, Physician Assistant '00, in September 2004.

Morgan Cruz (Bonney), '01, Elementary Education and Special Educati, married Christopher Cruz on May 16, 2009 at Boldt Castle in Alexandria Bay. She completed her Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University in 2005. Megan is currently teaching for the Union Springs School District. They are living in CNY.

Lora DeNero (Mazzaferro), '01, Special Education, and James DeNero were married on November 4, 2006. After the wedding, the couple departed for a honeymoon trip to Aruba. Lora is employed as a special education teacher for the Wheatland-Chili School District. James is a police officer for the Brighton Police Department, Rochester.

Robert Kordylewski , '01, Physical Therapy, married Dawn Pendolino in May 2007. Robert is currently working as a staff physical therapist for the McGuire Rehabilitation Center at Autumnview H.C.F. He completed the Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2004 and became a credentialed clinical instructor of students in 2006.

Amanda Coburn (Bishop), '02, Psychology, was married to Brandon Coburn on July 9, 2005 and they had their first child, Tobias Michael, in February 2007.

Phillip Mahunik , '02, Physical Therapy, was joined in marriage with Sarah Jean Bremmer September 2, 2007 in Fort Collins Colorado. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and currently reside in Greeley Colorado.

Melissa Couchman , '03, Business, announces her engagement to Tom Donofrio. An October 2008 wedding is planned.

Nicole Didas , '03, Physical Therapy, married Daniel Didas on November 3, 2007 in Zion Lutheran Church, Cohocton, NY. They make their home in Waverly, NY. Nicole is currently working at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Horseheads, NY as a physical therapist. Dan is working at Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY as a mechanical engineer.

Raymond Graf , '03, History & Government Education, is engaged to Kathryn Belliotti, '06, Art. They are planning a July 2009 wedding. Ray is a teacher in Silver Creek, NY and Kate is the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving for Daemen College.

Jordan Pulaski , '03, Business Administrating, announces his engagement to Elizabeth Bisbee. He proposed while they were on vacation in Rio de Janeiro and are planning an August 2010 wedding.

Jackie Reed (Barnes), '03, Elementary/Special Education, married Bryan Reed, Physical Therapy 2002 on July 7, 2007.

Carrie Ann Spinelli , '03, Humanities, and Leonard Janora were married July 14, 2007. Carrie Ann works as an Assistant Director at Brierwood Child Care Center in Orchard Park, NY. Leonard works as a Corrections Officer for the State of New York. The couple made their home in Cheektowaga, NY after a trip to Aruba.

Katie Stahl (Johnson), '03, Psychology, was married to Jonathan Stahl in 2007 at Desert Chapel Church in Palm Springs, CA. They live in Palm Springs, and Katie just completed her Master's degree in Educational Psychology and is working as an educational therapist. Katie and Jonathan spend their time hiking, camping, and being involved in their church ministry.

Andrew Chatt , '04, Physical Therapy, and Heather Bak, '04, Physical Therapy, are engaged to be married. A September 6, 2008 wedding is planned. They are both employed by CORA Rehabilitation Clinic and reside in Dunedin, FL.

Emily Gollwitzer (Gollwitzer), '04, Special Education and Elementary Educati, was married in September of 2008 to Jay Scannell is Lake Placid, NY. They have been living in Tempe for the last five years. She is graduating with her doctorate in Educational Leadership this October 2009. She is currently working as a Special Education Teacher in the Tempe Elementary School District.

Erik Iversen , '04, Doctor of Physical Therapy, is engaged to Melissa Forsythe, a Physician Assistant student. The wedding is planned for September 2008.

Erica Manson (Muck), '04, Childhood and Special Education, was married on August 2, 2008 in Clarence, NY to Paul Manson.

Jason Sabo , '04, Physical Therapy, and Julina Seeley, '06, Physical Therapy, announce their engagement. A July 26, 2008 wedding is planned. Both live in Westlake, OH and work at St. Vincent's Charity Hospital in Cleveland, OH as Physical Therapists.

Jeffrey Sommer , '04, Physical Therapy, and Lauren Cavalere, '03, Biology, were married on July 8, 2006 and currently reside in East Hanover, NJ. Jeffrey is a physical therapist at St. Barnabus Ambulatory Care Center. Lauren is an eighth grade science teacher at West Essex Junior High School in North Caldwell.

Laurie Trzepacz (Stahrr), '04, Graphic Design, and Thomas Trzepacz were united in marriage on July 21, 2007. The couple will be at home in Lancaster, NY after a wedding trip to the Bahamas.

James Felicita , '05, Political Science, and Bethany Sick, '05, Psychology, announce their engagement. A January 2008 wedding is planned. James is employed as a police officer for the New York State Office of Mental Health. Bethany is employed as a crisis specialist for the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic.

Ross Michalovic , '05, Accounting, married Jennifer Scheuler May 27, 2007. The couple honeymooned at Disney World, where they were engaged, and stayed in the same Disney hotel as the bride's parents did on their honeymoon in 1980.

Kristen Polakiewicz , '05, Elementary/Special Education, announces her engagement to Joseph Meier, a manager at Home Depot. A June 28, 2008 wedding is being planned by the happy couple. Kristen is a teacher in the Alden Central School District.

Rachel Wistner , '05, Education, is engaged to Nicolas Reed. The couple is planning an August 2008 wedding.

Kara Ann Cartwright , '06, Childhood/Special Education, and her fiance, Michael, became engaged on the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve 2008. They are very happy and excited for their 2011 wedding.

Colby Damon (Ziegler), '06, Nursing, was married to Sean Damon on September 20, 2008.

David Denk , '06, Art, annouces his engagement to Stephanie Willman. Their wedding will take place October 17, 2008. They are making their home in West Seneca, NY.

David Denk , '06, Sculpture, David Denk, '06 Sculpture, wed the love of his life, Stephanie Willman, on October 17th, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Denk have recently purchased their first home and currently reside in Lakeview, NY.

Amanda DePasquale (DelBel), '06, Elementary/Special Education, was married on August 30, 2008 to Christopher DePasquale (Physical Therepy, 2005). They now reside in Providence, RI.

Korey Downey , '06, Graphic Design, was married to Jillian Kish on July 14, 2007. They have made their home in the WNY area.

Lindsey Hall (Haggmark), '06, Art Education, was married in July of 2008. The couple is living in Rochester and Lindsey is teaching art.

Julia Kennel (Bonkowski), '06, Elementary/Special Education, married Brandon Kennel of Eastern Michigan Universtiy on July 26th of this year. The two will reside in Baltimore, Maryland where they are both teachers.

Julina Sabo (Seeley), '06, Physical Therapy, and Jayson Sabo, Physical Therapy '05, were married in downtown Cleveland, Ohio July 26, 2008 followed by a honeymoon to Europe.

Kari Achatz (Flanders), '07, Art Education, and Adam Acharz were married August 16, 2008. Adam was a Daemen student in 2003.

Sara Agugliaro , '07, Physician Assistant, and Angelo Tasca Jr. are engaged to be married and are planning a September 6, 2008 wedding.

Jennifer Hallinan , '07, Art Education, is engaged to Nicholas Licata.

Jared Fink , '08, Natural Science, became engaged to Shawna LeFort in May of 2008. They are planning a destination wedding in the Virgin Islands on June 30th of 2009.

Ryan Hejmanowski , '08, Natural Science, is engaged to Jennifer Butler (Class of 2007 BA English)in June of 2009.

Michelle Kmentt , '08, Graphic Design, and James Day of Amherst, NY are excited to announce their engagement which happened in January 2009. The couple plans a July 2010 wedding. Michelle and James currently reside in Tonawanda, NY.

Stephanie Michel (Graziano), '08, Physician Assistant, married Chad Michel, Physician Assistant class of 2007, on August 18th 2007. They now call Mooresville, North Carolina their home.

Carla Wokersien , '08, Art Education, annouces her engagement. She was proposed to while in Las Vegas and the couple plans to marry in 2010.

Births:

Jill Brown (Debus), '86, Physical Therapy, and her husband Theodore welcomed their third child, Annaliese Elizabeth on April 2, 2007. She joins older sisters Laurel and Melissa.

Laura Pisarcik , '89, Special Education, gave birth to a son, Stephen Michael, on November 21, 2006.

Michelle Steffens (Albrecht), '92, Accounting, and her husband, Harry were blessed with a baby girl, Elizabeth Michelle, born March 18 2009. She joins her siblings: Carolynn (7), James (6), Michael (5), and Timothy (3).

Peter Bohrer , '93, Acounting, and his wife welcomed their daughter, Christina Lynn Bohrer born Feb 27th 2009. She joins brother Alexander Bruce Bohrer, who was born Dec 13th 2005. The family resides in Livonia, NY.

Todd Hoeffs , '94, Art Education, and his wife Jennifer announce the birth of their daughter, Georgia Lily Ellyn, born August 28, 2007. She joins her two brothers, Jonah (5) and Nick (4), who were adopted at birth from African exchange students.

Kristen Killian (Burgess), '96, English, and husband Joseph and I are the proud parents of a baby boy! Matthew Joseph was born on December 28, 2007.

Maria McKendry (Balzer), '96, Physical Therapy, welcomed her third child on August 14, 2007. Grace Elizabeth joins her siblings, Emily Rose and Brendan Thomas.

Amber Turner (Palermo), '96, Nursing, and her husband Matthew welcomed their second child on August 8, 2007. Margot Evelyn weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz. She has an older sister named Eleanor.

Erin Cook (Scee), '99, Physical Therapy, Erin (Scee) Cook '99 PT and Jeremy Cook '99 PT were married August 31, 2002. They welcomed their daughter Shayna Nicole in December 2006. They also celebrated the birth and mourned the passing of their daughter Ella Rose in July 2008. They are currently beginning the adoption process.

Danae Donegan (Ford), '99, Physical Therapy, and Michael Donegan '99, Physical Therapy, '04, DPT welcomed a daughter on March 15, 2008, Reagan MacKenzie Donegan. Michael is lead PT at Noyes Memorial Hospital out of Dansville and Danae is working at Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mount Morris.

Rebecca Kasinski (Zak), '00, Elementary Education, and her husband John announce the birth of their son, Charles Thomas, born on October 15, 2007. He joins his sister, Claire, who is 3 years old.

Melissa Schmidt (Krawczyk), '01, Elementary & Special Education, and her husband Adam had thier second baby on March 10, 2009. His name is Ryan Benjamin.

Penny Grippen (Cieply), '02, Special/ Elementary Education, annouces the birth of their second child, Kylie, in August, 2008. They now have a boy and a girl!

Angela Hawkins (Cimato), '02, Physician Assistant, and Hubert Hawkins IV announce the birth of their son, Hubert William Hawkins V., born on June 5, 2007.

Stacey Kalenik (Kraft), '02, English, and her husband Peter announce the birth of twins, Jack Anthony and Sarah Renee, on August 9, 2007.

Emily McGrain (Loomis), '02, Physical Therapy, and her husband, Justin, annouce the birth of their baby boy, Aiden Loomis McGrain, born on March 2, 2008.

Randi Sears (Smith), '02, Elementary and Special Education, and her husband Alan welcomed their first baby on November 12, 2008. A little girl named Aryana Marie, weighing 7lbs 4 oz. Randi is a Special Education teacher for Randolph Central School and her husband is working for Register Graphics in Randolph. They just build a new home residing in the Randolph School District.

Denise Gottschalk (Stelmack), '02, Physical Therapy, and her husband welcomed their son, Evan Robert born January 26th 2009. He joins our big sister, Leah Catherine who is two years old.

Jackie Reed (Barnes), '03, Elementary/Special Education, and her husband, Bryan Reed, Physical Therapy 2002, welcomed the birth of their first son on April 8, 2008.

Jared Williams , '03, Biology, and his wife, Jillian, welcomed their first son, Joshua Olson, on August 11th, 2008. Jared, Jillian, and Joshua live in Reidsville, North Carolina, just outside of Greensboro. Jared teaches Biology at Reidsville High School, and is the Varsity Men's and Women's soccer coach.

Laurie Trzepacz (Stahrr), '04, Graphic Design, and her husband, Tom, welcomed their first child on July 24, 2008. Laurie is now a stay at home mother and is doing freelance graphic design on the side.

James Breitwieser, Jr. , '07, Nursing, and Jennifer Kush Breitwieser, '02, Nursing, are happy to announce the birth of a baby girl, Brenna Adele, on February 1, 2007.

Jessica Burke , '07, Physical Therapy, and Peter Morales are happy to announce the birth of their son Alexander David Morales on October 3, 2008. He weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long!

Class Notes:

Ellen Koessler (Klausman), '59, Art, was nominated by the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as their Distinguished Honoree. She is a very active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. She volunteers her time cooking for the Loaves and Fishes Dining Room, serves as Chairperson of the Sisters of Mercy Development Council, member of the 21st Century Club, Legacy Society and founding member of the Many Faces of Mercy Giving Circle. She most recently received the Cure of Ars Award from Christ the King Seminary. Ellen has 5 children and 18 grandchildren.

Noreen Pitts (Kiggins), '63, Math, and her husband Jim are retired and spend their time between homes in NH on Lake Winnipesaukee, Naples,FL and Boston. They have seven grandchildren, six girls, one boy - all live fairly nearby so that they can share time with them regularly. Much of their spare time is spent playing duplicate bridge and tennis.

Mary O'Connor , '64, English/Education, is one of the Women of Jewelia and co-authored a national best selling book entitled The Necklace: thirteen women and the experiment that transformed their lives written by Cheryl Jarvis. The Women of Jewelia are currently involved with the Hershey Co. in a national campaign benefitting the Young Survival Coalition.

Suzanne Fortner (Cole), '66, English, is retired and living in Northern California.

Mary Huber (Zaepfel), '69, Music Education, has retired from her Music teaching career which spaned thirty-one years. A cancer survivor, Mary has had several published articles and was a three time finalist for Duval County Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Huber and her husband David reside in Jacksonville Florida.

Patricia Rhoton (Holden), '69, Sociology, went to graduate school, married, had two wonderful children, then retired after working full time in research administraion for over 33 years. Found that after a lifetime of multitasking, retirement was not enough. She returned to work part time and found that was enough to keep her out of trouble and still leave her time for the rest of my life.

Joanne Capone , '72, History & Government, was elected to serve on the Board of New York State Democrats for Life.

Carol Golyski (Kane), '73, Medical Technology, was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She will serve a three year term. Carol recently received the Member of the Year Award from the New York State Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She has served the NYS/CLS as for several years Scholarship and Awards Chair and as Secretary. Carol is on the faculty in the Department of Biotechnical and Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University at Buffalo where she is also the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Medical Technology Program.

Jeanette Spina , '73, Art, retired from the Utica City School District in June 2005 after 35 years as an Art instructor. Jeanette was named Educator of the Month in September 2003.

Marilyn Kragbe (Foote), '74, Elementary Education, has published a faith based children's book with Tate Publishing. Her first book signing was held at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. She has been working for the last eight years with Daemen College's Teacher Leadership Quality Program, under the directorship of Jeff Arnold. Through this program, she has also have published a Learning Experience on Daemen's website entitled, "Seeing With Scientific Eyes."

Marlene Yamada (Williams), '75, Music (BM) Voice Performance, is a member of the Tochigi Opera Company. She teaches English Communication at a Catholic Missions High School. Marlene received her Masters degree in Voice Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, John's Hopkins University in 1978. A mother of three, Marlene resides in Japan with her husband.

Gene Morreale , '79, Medical Records, was appointed Chief Executive Officer by the Oneida Healthcare Center Board of Trustees.

Paula Joy Reinhold , '79, Art, was recently honored by Buffalo State College. Paula is the chair of the capital campaign for the Burchfield-Penney Art Center New Museum Project. Under her leadership, more than $32 million has been raised for the museum on the campus of Buffalo State. 

Don Hogan , '80, Social Work, recently celebrated 20 years of service as Director of Forensic Mental Health Services for County of Rensselaer and 19 years as Varsity Football Coach at Watervliet High School. Don resides in Watervliet with his wife Patti and his daughters, Meaghan, 14 years old and Bridget, 10 years old.

Thomas Collins , '82, Business Admin., was promoted to the Operations Manager of the Fujicolor Processing lab in Tullahoma,Tn

Ron Kozlowski , '84, Business, was named Supervisor of the Year by the Buffalo Federal Executive Board in its annual Excellence in government Awards for his work and leadership.

Adair White-Johnson, Ph.D. , '86, Psychology, was recently named 2008 Cobb County High School Counselor of the Year Georgia). In addition, Dr. White-Johnson serves as an Associate Professor of Education at Argosy University in Atlanta, GA.

Karen Miller (Cuddy), '87, Special Education, has been hired as the new principal of Ohio Street Elementary School in North Tonawanda, NY.

Michele Drumm (Cushman), '91, Humanities, has been named the Manager for Annual Giving at the Association of Fundraising Professionals Foundation for Philanthropy in Arlington,VA. The position began in October of 2007.

Peter L. Brodie , '92, Administrative Studies Health Systems Ma, has accepted a new position as the alumni relations director at Emporia State University in Kansas. Working with a foundation, he is on the leadership cabinet working with the alumni association and foundation team.

Peter Brodie (L.), '92, Administrative Studies/Health Systems Ma, recently accepted the position of a legislative liaison for Emporia State University where he also serves as the Alumni Relations Director and Secretary-Treasurer of the Alumni Association. Peter will be responsible for providing information regarding the need for supporting higher education in the State of Kansas and specifically Emporia State University.

Nanci Schlumbrecht (Conti), '92, NYS teacher certification, is about to finish her Master's in Teaching and Learning with Technology via distance learning.

Robin M. Burns (Brand), '93, Accounting, promoted to Principal at Lumsden & McCormick, LLP, Certified Public Accountants. Robin, who joined the company in 2002, specializes in corporate income tax. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ann Vecchio , '93, Transportation & Travel Management, received her Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration from Buffalo State College in May 2007. Ann is a student representative at ITT Technical Institute and started there in October 2007.

Mark Kosak , '94, Physical Therapy, was a recent recipient of the 40 Under 40 Awards of Fairfield County, CT.

Brian Conly , '95, Physical Therapy, and Debbie Roth Conly, '99, Physical Therapy, are working in the outpatient physical therapy clinic in North Carolina, which they both own.

Carol Kowalik , '96, English, has been named a reference librarian at the Olean Public Library. A native of West Falls, New York, Carol Kowalik has a MLS from the University of Buffalo with concentrations in Information Technology and Cataloging, MA in Theology from Christ the King Seminary with a concentration in Systematic Theology, a BA in English from Daemen College with minors in Public Relations and Religious Studies.

Carol Kowalik , '96, English, received her Master's in Library Science from UB in May 2008. She works as a full time librarian at the Olean Public Library in Olean, NY. Also, she was invited to join Beta Phi Mu, the Honor Society for Librarians. She recently had two articles published in "The Encyclopedia of Time" from Sage Publications.

Danielle Silverman , '96, Social Work, graduated from Nazareth College in May 2007 with a Masters Degree in Inclusive Education. She is certified to teach from birth to second grade in early childhood education and teaching students with disabilities.

Angela Hawkins (Cimato), '02, Physician Assistant, has become a partner/owner of White Mountain Family Healthcare with two physicians. They will be practicing family medicine.

Timothy Musielak , '02, Psychology, and Pia Baldo Musielak, '03, Physician Assistant, both ran and completed 26.2 miles in the Erie Marathon on September 9, 2007. The marathon was held at Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA.

Linda Chatah , '05, Nursing, is currently working in a Florida hospital as an operating room nurse. She also works for Dr. Clifford Clark, a plastic surgeon, at Orlando Aesthetic Institute.

James Felicita , '05, Political Science, graduated from the Finger Lakes Police Academy on June 15 2009. He is employed with the Ontario County Sheriff's Department as a Road Patrol Deputy. James received the top academic award at graduation for having the highest grade point average of the graduating class. James lives in Shortsville, NY with his wife, Bethany Sick Felicita, Psychology '05, and their four dogs.

Kathleen Glass (Zillner), '05, Nursing, was hired as a Nurse Practitioner with University Urology, and is based out of ECMC. University Urology is a diverse academic practice serving patients at ECMC and in the Kaleida System.

Lauren Metzger , '05, Psychology, has taken a position with the American Heart Association as their Youth Market Director. Her position charges her with the task of educating youth about a heart healthy lifestyle and the risks of obesity while raising funds for Heart Disease and Stroke Research.

Deaths:

Tim White, ', on January 13, 2009 Daemen lost a former student. Tim White was an active member on the Daemen campus. He was a member of Phi Beta Gamma Fraternity. After Daemen, Tim spent over 26 years in theater and broadcasting. Tim was also an advocate for transplant donation, he received his kidney transplant in 2000. He will be deeply missed.

Rosalie Calucci (Andolina), '57, Music, passed away April 26, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Ermanno; daughters, Gina and Carla; son, Tony; grandchildren, Erik, Carla, Francesca, Arianna, and Nina; great-grandmother of Aiden.

Mary Kiefer (Valente), '66, French, died October 10, 2007. She is survived by two sons, Brendan and Andrew; two daughters, Amy and Betsy; her brother, John; and her former husband, Philip.

Shirley Lord, '68, Sociology, died in her home on July 30, 2007. She is survived by her mother, Agnes, a brother, the Rev. Ronald and two sisters, Sr. Donna and Patricia.

Audrey Rose Devine (Komroy), '71, Art, died July 14, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; three sisters, Carolyn, Melanie, and Pamela; and a brother, Richard.

Kenneth Hutton, '87, History & Government, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 20, 2009. He is survived by his two children, Nicole (20) and Gabriel (18) who reside with Ken's former spouse, Marie (Tulett) Hutton in Cheektowaga, NY. Ken had been employed by the Department of Homeland Security as a Customs and Border Protection Officer.

Phyllis Krathaus, '98, Business Administration/MS-Global Busine, It is with great sadness we note the sudden passing of Phyllis Krathaus on November 28, 2007. Phyllis was a longtime, and valued member of the Daemen community. Ms. Krathaus was the College Bursar. She was, more importantly, also a true friend and dear colleague to all of us. She will be truly missed.

Matthew Karns, '02, Physical Therapy, passed away June 11, 2007 due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in San Antonio, TX. Survivors include his parents, Alan and Joan Karns; his brothers, Scott, Steven, and Michael; his grandparents, John and Jean Karns and Betty Purdy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ellen Aquino, '04, Special Education, died suddenly June 16, 2007 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. She leaves her parents, John and Laurl Aquino; twin sister, Kate; grandparents, Barbara and Lucius Hall, Lois Aquino; great-great aunt, Ann Bennett; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
